VILLAGE ARTS BUILDING    301 Mill St. Northport

The new Village Arts Building created by Bill and Nina Collins for the Northport ARTS Association.

It opened on Ocober 22, 2016.

Here are Nina and Bill Collins, with their great grand daughters,  Christine and Amelia Aspen.  Bill and Nina  have built the Village Arts Center to support the arts in Northport. This building will  not only be a location for events and classes sponsored by the Northport Arts Association;  it will also be a place where the Leelanau Township Community Foundation will meet, and will be used by the Northport Community Arts Center for some meetings and classes. The Collins Family has always been involved in the arts, but their support of Northport is not limited to this wonderful building.  They also built Northport Creek Golf Course and sponsored Tuckers of Northport, making major contributions to the economy of our village. Thank you Nina and Bill for all that you do.

The Northport ARTS Association's Sunday Plein Air Paintout went extremely well. 30 artists signed up to paint. At the evening wet paint reception we sold 28 paintings.

Congratulations to award winners Neil Walling, Pat McKean, Mary Fuscaldo, Dawn Russell, and Dan Malski.

We are grateful to Gene Rantz for spearheading this project and working super-hard to make it a success.
Thanks to Tom Whitney for supporting Gene every step of the way.
Thanks to Mimi Heberlein for letting us hang the work and hold the reception at Willowbrook Mill, and for obtaining  food for the reception.

Thanks to all the people who donated food and wine for the reception.
Thanks to the members of Prevailing Winds who serenaded us so beautifully throughout the evening.
Thanks to Lynn Heline who coordinated the day and worked with all the volunteers to ensure outstanding staffing.
Thanks to the volunteers who helped make it happen .( Joe and Marilyn King, Marie Elena Gaspari, Patty Canfield, Wendy Slade, Peter, Susan Ager, Larry Coppard, Tom Woodruff, Roxy Bissell, Chris Verdon)
Thanks to all the artists who painted Northport. Great job! Wonderful paintings! An album of these pieces will be posted on our "photos" page under "more" on this website.

Here are photos of the new building which will become the home of the Northport Arts Association, hopefully in autumn 2016.  This is being built by Nina and Bill Collins in response to campaigning by Gene Rantz and others for a site for our organization. Here we will be able to have classes, exhibits, events of all kinds.....This will be a real community arts building.
